Web 2.0 - Using Social Networking Sites To Explode Your List Building

Make no mistake, building a list can be hard. There are lots of resources you can use which will help you build it faster, with one of the main ones being Web 2.0, or often referred to as social networking.
So what exactly does Social Networking involve?
The basic principle has evolved from the dark days of MLM marketing, when you had to contact all your family, friends and anybody you even faintly knew, to try and convince them to buy your products. This is almost like the needle in a haystack approach, as you are trying to find people interested in the products, rather than have interested parties coming to you, which is usually a much more rewarding approach.
So if you can find a hot market to attack, surely this is much better idea than the scattergun approach?
But how do you do that?
Social networking has been around or a few years, but it has risen to prominence mainly with the recent success of Twitter and Facebook. With these sites it is possible to make friends with like minded people, who are interested in the market that you are in. This is what is known as a hot market.
It is often said that people buy from people, so the idea is that rather than ramming your products down your prospects throats, you build up a relationship first, so that your prospect has trust in you and knows you like a friend. Once trust is gained, it is then much easier to present your products to your prospect.
Many new social networking sites are now springing up on the back of the success of Twitter an Facebook, so the options open to you as a social networker are now much greater. But Twitter and Facebook have such a big following now that they really should be your first port of call when starting your social networking.
The same principles apply when using both these sites, you should be searching for people who would be interested in hearing about whatever products you have to promote, and adding them as friends. Once they have accepted your friendship, don't immediately send them links to your site, as this will turn them off to you before you've even started! Don't forget, its all about building that relationship! So ask questions about where they live, what they are doing, and likewise share your comings and goings with them. Short videos always go down well, as it shows them exactly what you look like and adds further credence to you as a genuine person.
The MLM market is finally coming round to using these techniques, as they have been proven to work. Are you using them too?
